Puma Store - St James St

Malci successfully delivered major structural alterations to the existing façade as part of the redevelopment of the new Puma flagship store on Oxford Street. The project required the integration of exposed structural steelwork to achieve the architect’s sleek and contemporary façade design while maintaining the integrity of the existing structure.

The works involved the careful modification of the existing steel frame. Sections of the original steelwork were precisely cut and reconfigured through controlled burning and the welding of new steel plates. This innovative approach allowed the alterations to be completed efficiently while minimising the requirement for extensive temporary works and reducing disruption to the structure.

Malci provided a fully integrated service throughout the project, including construction sequencing, temporary works design, connection design, fabrication drawings, off-site steel fabrication, and on-site steel modifications and installation. This coordinated approach ensured a safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery.

808-812 High Rd Tottenham

The Tottenham project, a showcase of engineering precision and strategic planning, is advancing despite challenging environmental conditions. This project involves the intricate development of a basement that demands both functional and safety-oriented solutions. The project's scope includes managing complex dewatering processes to lower the water table, constructing reinforced concrete retaining walls, and meticulous underpinning below the water table. The successful progression of this project is achieved through:

  • Diligent management of dewatering efforts to effectively lower and control the water table, a critical and ongoing challenge.
  • Construction of reinforced concrete retaining walls that are integral to the structural stability and safety of the entire development.
  • Implementation of underpinning operations below the water table, designed to address the challenges posed by fluctuating water levels and adverse weather conditions.
  • Piling works for robust foundation support under a Grade II listed building, ensuring preservation and structural integrity.
  • Development of a new basement, where meticulous planning and execution are crucial due to the historical significance and preservation requirements of the building.
