Project: Shell & Core. New basement to rear and under house, new steel frame within the existing house
Client: Harris Calnan
Duration: 35 weeks
Malci were employed to construct the new basement at the rear and installation of new steel frame within the existing building.
Construction of the basement was a great challenge as water ingress via the piling wall created difficulties to carry out excavation. In order to mitigate delay to the project, the sequencing of the basement works was changed to “Top Down” to construct the ground floor slab in order to commence the works within the building earlier then programmed.
The basement RC works included fair face concrete soffit for the gym area, RC Lining walls, RC central spine wall & lightwell exposed RC wall which forms part of the basement courtyard area.
Malci constructed a new RC fair face high ceiling concrete extension for the new kitchen at the rear of the exiting building whilst incorporating major temporary works to the rear existing façade on structural steel and plunge temporary steel columns.
Malci carried a full cloud survey to the existing internal building and produced a details structural steel frame to fit within the existing building replacing roof structural timber, existing timber floors whilst introducing temporary propping each floor.
